Family Learning Center

The Family Learning Center at Lynbrook is a buzzing hub of family activity. Maggie Perez-Rives is our Family Center coordinator. She can be reached by email at [email protected] or at 703-866-2954 if you need something or have questions.

Some of the events you may see happening there and with parents around the school are:

  • Leadership Involvement Training
  • Volunteering in our school, doing jobs to support our teachers, our front office, and our students (distributing weekly snack bags)
  • Help in the cafeteria
  • Volunteering in the library
  • Basic computer classes for adults as well as resume writing and help with job applications
  • English classes, school based vocabulary (how to have a good parent/ teacher conference, how to use the absentee call line etc.),and conversational English with Mr. Jack Dowing
  • HIPPY , Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters
  • Early Literacy Classes (Spanish)
  • Partners with  WETA  “Ready to Learn” workshops
  • Mommy and Me- parenting classes, nutrition
  • Family Literacy evening classes (English)
  • Guests from the community- Fire Fighters and the Fairfax County Police
  • Building bridges of trust between the school, our parents and the community
