Family Learning Center
The Family Learning Center at Lynbrook is a buzzing hub of family activity. Maggie Perez-Rives is our Family Center coordinator. She can be reached by email at [email protected] or at 703-866-2954 if you need something or have questions.
Some of the events you may see happening there and with parents around the school are:
- Leadership Involvement Training
- Volunteering in our school, doing jobs to support our teachers, our front office, and our students (distributing weekly snack bags)
- Help in the cafeteria
- Volunteering in the library
- Basic computer classes for adults as well as resume writing and help with job applications
- English classes, school based vocabulary (how to have a good parent/ teacher conference, how to use the absentee call line etc.),and conversational English with Mr. Jack Dowing
- HIPPY , Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters
- Early Literacy Classes (Spanish)
- Partners with WETA “Ready to Learn” workshops
- Mommy and Me- parenting classes, nutrition
- Family Literacy evening classes (English)
- Guests from the community- Fire Fighters and the Fairfax County Police
- Building bridges of trust between the school, our parents and the community
