Congratulations to Andrea Cabrera on being recognized as the 2019 October FCPS Cares Recipient of the Month for Region 3 by the Department of Human Resources. Congratulations, Ms. Cabrera!

Below is the write up submitted by Mr. Jay Nocco, principal of Lynbrook Elementary School. 

Andrea, a first-grade teacher, initiated a two-day program for approximately 45 students that are new to our country (k - 6th grades). Working with colleagues to teach her own students she did not request any additional substitute time. She designed an experience similar to a workshop model for students so that they understood what was happening in their individual rooms. She shared her own experiences as a second language learner with them and then discussed school expectations and procedures that may be different than they experienced in their own country. The staff has commented on the change in these students after this experience. The students are more comfortable and ready to learn.
